Middle Section
Chain a length to equal desired width in multiples of 2 + 1
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, (sc in next ch, dc, in next ch) across, turn (you will have an even number of stitches).
Row 2: Ch 1, (sc in next st, dc in next st) across, turn. Repeat this row until you have the desired size. Fasten off.
Border Section
Row 1: Join double strand yarn to any stitch of the last row worked. It is best to begin in the middle instead of at the beginning of the row. Work 1dc in each stitch and work [1dc, ch2, 1dc] for corner. Continue around. Join to first stitch.
Row 2: Ch3, work Front-Post Double-Crochet (fpdc) to each stitch around, work [1dc, ch2,1dc] for each corner. Join to first stitch.
Continue working Border Row 2 until desired border width. Fasten off. Work all loose threads into work.
