Hello, fellow Snuggler.
I hope that this email finds you well. You might have noticed that the Snuggles Project website has changed this week. We are excited to present a new and much improved site for the project. This upgrade is meant to broaden the value of the project. What that means is that we all need social interaction with other people. The last few years has greatly affected our way of dealing with our social needs. Covid-19 has closed some animal shelters and has greatly restricted the access to many others. Many shelters were just not accepting anything that wasn't sealed or came directly from a distributor. It has been disheartening to say the least. We know that the animals in the shelters so need the comfort that we can provide. So what do we do? Well, we keep Snuggling.
So we decided to upgrade the project site and give you more. It still has all of the familiar things that we have always had, but what we are most excited about is the upgrade to the social area. We had a social area before but this is now so much better. We would like to present the Snuggles Project Community.
So what is the Snuggles Project Community and why should you care about it? We think that the Snuggles Project can do more to help people, more precisely, the Snugglers who continue to put their hearts and souls into each Snuggle that they make. People are dealing with a lot even still today as we enter Season 3 of Covid. We believe that one day Covid will be in our rearview mirror; and, whether we are stronger for it or struggling to recover from it, will depend on the community that we attach ourselves to. We have had a Facebook group for a number of years now but, while it does provide exposure, it doesn't provide the best utility for the project. We are also concerned with the way that Facebook has been operating their business. That is why we are taking the project into a more useful place for you, for the homeless animals who still need us, and hopefully improve our little corner of the world.
Our Snuggles Project Community is a place where you can find friends, share what is happening in your life, commiserate with one another about the ups and downs that you are going through, and to encourage each other. It is more than just talking about the Snuggles that you made or delivered to a shelter. It is about you and what it means to be a Snuggler.
Once you log into the site, you will see the Community appear in the menu. Once there, you will want to personalize your profile. Add a picture of you and add a cover image to enhance your page. Then add posts to your activity stream, put up photo albums, articles, videos, even music and podcasts. You can join groups and create pages. It all looks very familiar because it is just like Facebook. Later this year, we are planning a marketplace for you. We want this to be a safe and enjoyable place to hang out.
To keep this a safe place, the Snuggles Project Community is available to members only. The general public will continue to have access to the public website, pattern library, and be able to participate at that level. But for our members, the Snugglers who make this project successful, we are so very happy to provide you with a community that you can enjoy and come to depend on for support and acknowledgement of who you are.
